What are ADHD glasses?

Ordinary-looking frames with built-in side shields. They narrow your field of view so movement at the edge of your vision is less likely to pull your attention.

The problem they solve

Human vision spans roughly 200 degrees, but focused work uses a fraction of that. Everything else (a colleague walking past, a door swinging, a screen flickering two desks over) lands in your periphery. Peripheral motion is what the brain's alerting system responds to. For many people with ADHD it responds more often, and each response is a break in concentration.

What they are, physically

ADHD glasses are frames whose temples widen into integrated side shields, sometimes with a small shield below the outer lens edge too. The principle is the same as blinkers on a horse. The difference is that these are made to be worn in an office without comment.

What they are not

They are not a treatment. They change your surroundings, not your neurology, and they do not replace whatever strategies, support or medication already work for you. They are also not the same thing as tinted lenses, which address light sensitivity rather than distraction. Some frames offer both, but it is the shields that do the distraction blocking.

The pair we recommend

Focus Frames by GOGHINI: matte black, fully integrated side shields, clear or tinted lenses, prescriptions accepted.
